Learn needle-turn appliqué and embroidery techniques as you stitch this cute fantasy bird, called a ‘Fippet’. This bird is an exclusive design for workshops only and not available as part of Jo’s Dream Bird series. Jo will also be demonstrating simple embroidery stitches including fly stitch, satin stitch and colonial knots. Once finished this can be used as the centrepiece to a quilt block, framed as a picture or used as a page in one of Jo’s fabric books.
Advisory Note:
Suitable for beginners over the age of 16. Some experience with hand stitching would be beneficial.
Meet the Tutor
Jo Avery
Jo Avery is a prize-winning quilter based in Scotland. She is a regular contributor to many quilting publications and the author of both New Patchwork and Quilting Basics and Modern Crewel Embroidery. As part of The Thread House, she organises sewing retreats and an online teaching Academy. Inspired by nature her eclectic style perfectly blends modern aesthetics with traditional techniques.
