Thursday 12th March 2026 - Sunday 15th March 2026

NEC, Birmingham

3-Hour workshop

This fabulous masterclass provides an engaging introduction to the ancient art of mosaic, embracing a very contemporary and intuitive approach.

The class will begin with a short talk, during which Tracey will run through the process, explaining health and safety points, showing examples and answering any questions.

Each participant will be provided with a pre-cut piece of lightweight cement board (tile backer board), a mixed selection of mosaic materials and other objects for inclusion, their own set of tools and PPE to use, a tub of coloured cement mortar, mixing pots and spatulas.

Additional materials will be made available to allow plenty of personal choice. Students are also encouraged to bring along their own inclusions too such as old coins/keys/broken chinaware/jewellery etc.

During this class students will learn how to:

Select suitable materials for their project
Use tile nippers correctly to safely cut and shape tesserae
Respond to texture, shape and colour
Mix and use pigmented cement adhesive
Create a sense of flow in the placement of their tesserae

Half-day Academy Masterclass tickets also include:

Advisory Note:
