NEEDLE FELT A BEAUTIFUL 3D WREN AFTERNOON MASTERCLASS, with Liberty Goodswen, Liberty’s Felterie - Saturday 15th March 2025

Thursday 13th March 2025-Sunday 16th March 2025

NEC, Birmingham

14.00 to 17.00

This is one of Liberty’s favourite projects, a perky little wren, one of the UK’s most beloved birds, bought to life in wool!

Whether you are completely new to needle felting or already have some experience, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to create something special while learning professional techniques in a supportive, creative environment.

Liberty will guide you through every step of the process, from crafting the wren’s delicate shape to adding those fine, realistic details that make it truly come alive. There will be plenty of expert tips to help you achieve a professional, polished piece that you can be proud to display.

By the end of the workshop, you will leave with a completed wren that captures the charm and character of this much-loved bird.

Under Liberty’s guidance you will cover:

•Learning about different fibres and their uses. From core wool to the finest Merino and how their attributes can be used to full advantage.
•When and how to use different needle gauges – from straight to twisted, star to reverse, learning how, why and when to use them.
•Using top-coats to bring ridigity to beaks and wings.
•Techniques to acheive a fine finish to your felting – refining the little details makes a big difference.
•Tips on creating character and bringing animals to life.
•Blending wool colours to create realistic textures and tones.
•How to begin a project from an initial idea.
•Innovative ways to display your finished piece so that it fits beautifully in your home or makes the perfect gift.

Half-day Academy Masterclass tickets include:

Afternoon refreshments with luxury biscuits, a complimentary ticket to visit the main show on Saturday morning, all equipment, materials and consumables, plus you will have the eco felting mat, needles and spare wool to take home.
